Olympic Solidarity Programs

For developing the works of NOCs, especially whose financial budgets are limited, the Olympic solidarity decided to establish programs for supporting NOCs. These programs are executed by NOCs in cooperation with the National federations & IFs. The number of these programs are 21, part of them are financed by OS and the other part are financed by the Continental Olympic Councils, the programs are as follow:

 

First: The programs that are supervised by OS:

  • Administrative subsidy: it is allocated for financing the administrative requirements like stationery, telecommunications services and rent with annual support of $ 40000.
  • Coaching courses for coaches: they are dedicated for organizing coaching courses for the coaches, according to a plan of 4 years, every year part of them is executed according to NOC’s plan, the allocated financial support for 4 years is $ 80000.
  • Development of National Sports Structure: it is executed by NOC, it helps the NFs in preparing the coaches through organizing many training courses for one sport in one year, the allocated financial support is $ 80000.
  • Scholarships for coaches program: it is an educational scholarship, held in Budapest University for 3 months for getting the International license, it is on the expense of OS.
  • Olympic Summer Games Scholarships for Athletes program: it is organized 2 years before the start of the Olympic Games, it is dedicated for the nominated athletes for the participation, the allocated financial support is $ 80000.
  • Logistic support program: it is allocated for the participation of the President & secretary general in the Olympic Games like the air flights, accommodations & other petty expenses, the allocated financial support is $ 32000.
  • Youth Summer Olympic Games Scholarships for Athletes: it is organized 1 year before the start of the Olympic Games, it is dedicated for the nominated athletes for the participation, the allocated financial support is $ 80000.
  • The Environment & Sport : it is and annual program & dedicated for activities that are relevant to environment, implemented by NOC with specialist partners, the allocated financial support is $ 6000.
  • The program of Women & sport is dedicated for raising awareness about the importance of the participation of women in sport, it is an annual program according to the request of NOC, and the financial support is specified according to the actual spent budget for this activity, which is reviewed & approved by OS.
  • Sport & Peace program: it is dedicated for raising awareness

about discarding conflicts and accepting each other, this event is

financially supported according to the actual spent budget, which

is reviewed & approved by OS.

  • The Olympic Day: it is dedicated for celebrating the establishment of Olympic Movement on 23rd of June, it is an annual program with allocated financial support of $ 2500.
  • Sports Medicine: it is dedicated for qualifying the working staff in sports medicine, the allocated budget is $ 5000.
  • MEMOS Program: it is an educational scholarship for obtaining Master degree in sports fields, this scholarship includes 4 educational courses for students, every course is held in a specified country, these courses are supervised by accredited academicians by OS. The curriculum is taught in three languages: English, French & Spanish, the cost of scholarship is equally shared between Olympic Solidarity & the student.

 

Secondly: the supervised programs by Continental Olympic Council:

  • The COC supports of the sports activities of NOC, the annual allocated support is $ 80000.
  • The continental & regional forum, in which the OS programs & the budgets are discussed, the expenditure of the forum is financed by Continental Olympic Council, which includes the airfares of the participants.
  • Continental Athlete Support Grant 2014:

 

Within the frame of OS programs (Youth Olympic Games), the offered grant was benefited for the athletes who were nominated for getting the Universal places, which entitled them to the direct qualification, according the approval of OS, the athletes were:

  • Ebrahim Al-Shebami (wreslting)
  • Basheer Saadan (Taekwondo)
  • Hanin Wakil Thabit (Athletics)

  • Rio Olympic Games scholarship 2016:

 

The Olympic Solidarity allocated the scholarship for qualifying the athletes for the participation in Rio2016, the athletes were chosen according to the results they achieved in the external & internal participations.

 

The athletes who were nominated for this scholarship were:

  • Mohammed Maamon Rageh (athletics)
  • Hanin Wakil Thabit (athletics)
  • Ali Khousrof (judo)
  • Ebrahim Al-Maleki (swimming)

 

According to the offered plan by IFs for preparing the athletes, through the participation in the training camps & continental Qualification championships, the participations were as follows:
